Welcome
Welcome to St Paul's C of E Primary School.
Our school motto ‘Love to Learn; Learn to Love’ underpins everything that we do. The fact that we are a church school is central to our aims and ethos. The Christian values of respect, love, responsibility, courage and perseverance form a firm moral foundation to build upon. It is our key aim of wanting our children to achieve these skills, values and attitudes that will enable them to attain high standards and equip them for life.
All children are welcomed into our school family and treated with care, kindness and respect. They are taught in a stimulating, purposeful learning environment, where they enjoy rich learning experiences which promote ownership and lead to high standards of achievement.
We recognise the crucial role that parents have to play in the education of their children; learning is at its best when there are strong partnerships between home and school. Parents are invited to assemblies, open mornings and a variety of meetings, as well as coming in to read and help with other activities. Other communications include regular newsletters and emails as well as informal face-to-face interactions. We have an open-door policy whereby parents can contact staff easily and, when further communication is necessary, arrange a meeting at a mutually convenient time.
We are fortunate to be part of a very strong community involving committed, hardworking staff and governors and a supportive body of parents. The Friends of St Paul’s (FOSP/PTA) is a great way to get involved by meeting people and participating in a variety of fun events whilst also supporting your child’s education.
As well as developing academically, we focus on developing the child as a ‘whole’. We teach them to develop a sense of responsibility with a moral and social awareness of our school family and wider community. One of our many strengths is the way that we look out for each other; this includes developing systems such as our Friendship Stop, Buddying, Play Leaders and Playground Patrol.
We offer a great variety of cross-curricular activities both after school and during the school day. Some of these are provided by external agencies but many are run voluntarily by our dedicated school staff. Not only do these develop teamwork and other skills, they also increase self-esteem and a general enjoyment of school.
One of the favourite parts of my job is showing visitors around – nothing makes me prouder than showing our happy, hardworking school as it is on a day-to-day basis. Tours for prospective parents and children are held during the year and visits can easily be arranged through our school office. On behalf of the staff and governors of St Paul’s, I look forward to welcoming you to our school.
