Our First Parliament Meeting ...
Last Friday, our new MPs had the pleasure of meeting Gagan Mohindra who is the MP for the south west of Hertfordshire. He spoke to our parliament members about his role as an MP and how to be an effective parliament member. He was really inspiring, talking to the children about how he struggled at school with reading and writing but followed his dreams of wanting to help people, which is what he aims to do now. The children asked some fantastic questions and discussed why they wanted to be their classes MP. Gagan was hugely impressed with the children and thought our school was amazing!
Flipping Pancakes
To help us with thinking about Shrove Tuesday and the meaning of pancake day, our PTA organised for us to take part in a sponsored pancake flipping event. Each class spent time in the gym, seeing how many times they could successfully flip their pancakes. The money raised from this event will go towards any projects we have in the future ...

First Aid Training
As part of our personal development programme and our PSHE curriculum, we work hard to provide children with the skills and knowledge to be confident and responsible citizens. With this in mind, during our Autumn term, we arranged for our pupils in Year 5 and Year 6 to complete First Aid Training, delivered by Mini First Aid. Our children were taught about potential risks and dangers to our safety, and if were were ever in that position, what first aid we would need to provide and potentially how to save someone's life. Our pupils finished the session feeling far more confident and informed ...
World Food Day
On Wednesday 18th October, the children of St Paul's celebrated World Food Day. For this, each class were set the challenge of picking a continent / country that they would use to inspire a dish that they needed to plan, make and sell. To link to our Curriculum Drivers too, children had to develop their knowledge of money as they were given £10 per class and were told they needed to try and make a profit, having to consider cost and budgeting ...
Junk Music Orchestra ...
To help develop our music curriculum and enrichment and promote the importance of recycling and sustainability, on Friday 13th October, we invited the Junk Music Orchestra into school. The JMO does exactly what it says and each class spent the day exploring and playing musical instruments out of junk. Saul, the Junk Music Man, discussed with the children how music can be created form most things and the children were inspired to then make their own junk musical instruments ...
Inline Skating
During the Autumn 1 half term, our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils took part in some inline skating workshops. Whilst the workshops enabled our pupils to be physically active, it was also designed to develop our pupil's growth mindset and perseverance, knowing that they were not going to succeed straight away. The whole day was incredible and it was so lovely to see our children grow in confidence. We also got to see the tutor perform some really cool tricks ...
Kidzania
On Friday 22nd September, KS2 visited Kidzania in London. Kidzania is an indoor role play centre that allows children to take on different jobs for the day, also earning money for the jobs that are completed. The day allowed our pupils to think about their aspirations and develop our independence. Can you tell which jobs we were working in?
