Nursery Class
Welcome to Nursery's Page
Our class teacher is Mrs Hodgson. Our Teaching Assistants are Ms Jarmin and Miss Pisacane.
Summer Term 2024
In the summer term, we will be continuing finding out about ‘People who help us’ and different jobs people do. We will be exploring a wide range of role play, including doctors, dentists and hairdressers to name but a few! This will be linked through each of our phonemes of the week. We will be continuing tasting, making and baking a wide range of foods as well as planting and looking after our very own vegetable patch.
We will be learning how stories are split into beginnings, middles and ends and we will begin to think about the characters and how they might be feeling.
We will be exploring the signs of spring and summer in our local area.
As we move through the term, we will start to learn about different creatures, including minibeasts and see which ones will visit our garden. We will look at habitats and characteristics of minibeasts, for example colours, shapes and the number of legs. We will look at the lifecycles of butterflies and frogs and the changes that happen.
This term is also the start of the children’s transition into Reception. We will be making regular visits to the Reception classroom and getting to know the Reception staff.
We offer an emerging curriculum based on the differing needs and interests of the children. This is embedded with the EYFS curriculum to extend the holistic learning and development of each individual child.

We will be continuing to develop our love of books and stories and will be celebrating World Book Day.
We will continue adding to the Nursery cookbook with melted chocolate marshmallows, banana bread and orange juice!
We will be finding out about the past with a little help from our grandparents. Alongside investigating materials and seeing how things change over time.
We are looking forward to performing all the songs we are learning with Electric Umbrella to our parents at the end of the term.
We will be finishing off the term by learning about Easter and signs of Spring.
