Spring Term 2025
Following the Christmas holidays, we will be sharing how we celebrated Christmas with our families and the traditions we have at home.
We will look at the labels and logos on the toys to see if we can read them. This will link to us starting to investigate letter sounds as we continue our phonic development. We will be learning a phoneme a week and linking it to cooking. We will learn t, s, p, n, a, i during this half term.
We will be learning how to make toast, sandwiches, pizza, apple crumble and ice cream. This will help us find out about changes in state as you heat and cool food. We will learn about safety and hygiene as we learn to spread, chop, grate and mix.
We will be finding out about winter and animals that live in cold climates. We will look at the changes in our environment in winter and then changes into spring. We will be going on a winter walk and thinking about what we will need to wear.
Autumn 2 2024
During our second half term our topic was 'It's dark outside!' We found out about what happens at night time and talked about how we feel about the dark. Our key texts were Owl Babies, Peace at Last and Whatever Next! We investigated light sources in our dark place and how to make shadows. We found out about a range of celebrations involving light - Bonfire night, Diwali and Christmas. We even embarked on an adventure into space to visit the moon!
We learnt about colours in our weekly colour hunt and began to find out about the numbers from 1 - 5 with a little help from the Numberblocks!
Autumn 1 2024
During our first half term in Nursery we learnt how to use all the different areas of the classroom and got to know all of our new friends. We learnt about the importance of following our rules and routines and how to take turns and share our toys.
We read 'Happy Birthday, Maisy' and had great fun exploring how to celebrate birthdays. We went on a walk to find out about autumn and made collections along the way. We loved baking bread rolls to share with our families. We made hedgehog rolls and even red bread!
