Welcome to Year 2!

Our Teacher is Miss Benham and our TAs are Mrs Head and Mrs Weller.

Our PE days are Tuesdays and Thursdays.

· Reading books are due in on Monday and will be given out again the same day.

· Spelling tests will take place on a Friday Morning with new spellings given out on a Friday for the following week.

Our History based topic is ‘The Great Fire of London. We will learn about how the fire started and why it spread. We will also learn about what life was like in the 17th century and order events on a timeline.

In English we will focus on improving our vocabulary by learning more interesting adjectives. Our story focus is ‘Julian is a Mermaid’ and we will be creating a story map and focussing on direct speech.

In Design and Technology and Art we will be designing our own Tudor houses, and  painting the great fire of London, using silhouettes.  

In Maths we will be focusing on: Number and Place Value, mental and formal addition and subtraction, number bonds to 10 and 20 – including times tables and formal methods, and learning about money.

In Science this term we will be learning about materials. We have been looking at the different types of absorbency and if materials are waterproof or not waterproof. We will be investigating how to squash, bend, twist and stretch. We will be trying to find out which fabric is the scratchiest and the bounciest!

During Computing, we will be creating digital music and exploring how it makes us feel. We then will be exploring how to make robot algorithms.
